Duties

1. Directs and supervises the activities of school certified and non-certified staff members in the performance of their duties.

 

2. Reports to Superintendent regarding the needs of the school with respect to personnel, equipment supplies and curriculum.

 

3. Implements and observes Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relation to the Middle School.

 

4. Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of all school programs. This includes the development and ongoing success of the School Improvement Plan.

 

5. Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; to implement Board policies and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.

 

6. Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development, as appropriate.

 

7. Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.

 

8. Assists superintendent in supervising such support services as maintenance, custodial, technology, and food services that occur within the Middle School.

 

9. Approves any building use forms from community organizations and forwards to Superintendent for final approval.

 

10. Meeting Attendance:

 

· School board meetings and delivers a monthly building report.

 

· Administrative team meetings, and such other meetings as are required or appropriate.

 

· Weekly grade level teams to work collaboratively on curriculum and various student related issues.

 

· Building PPS meetings as the district administrator for the Middle School. Attendance at out of district student placement staffing when necessary.

 

· Parent-Teacher Organization meetings and delivers a monthly report when necessary.

 

· CGHS feeder school administrator articulation meetings.

 

· Attends SMSC athletic directors meetings with the AD.

 

11. Assist the Superintendent in the preparation of the school’s budgetary requests, and monitors expenditures of funds.

 

12. Serves as the administrative liason to the Technology Committee.

 

13. Attends certain special events held to recognize student achievements and attends certain school sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.

 

14. Works with the administrative team when to problem-solve district issues such as transportation, special services, maintenance, and the like.

 

15. Conducts staff meetings to keep members informed of policy changes, new programs, and the like.

 

16. Keeps the Superintendent informed of the schools’ activities and problems.

 

17. Works with administrative team and inservice committee on workshops and in-service activities that pertain to curriculum as well as promoting understanding of district instructional objectives.

 

18. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publication, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.

 

19. Provides leadership in the development, revisions, and evaluation of the curriculum.

 

a. Acts as the MS curriculum director.

b. Co-facilitates annual district curriculum adoption and curriculum guide revision committee.

 

20. Provides leadership in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school’s professional staff.

 

21. Recommends to the Superintendent the removal of a teacher whose work is unsatisfactory, according to established procedures.

 

22. Creates yearly Middle School master schedule as well as other school related activity and duty schedules.

 

23. Assumes responsibility for recommending needed changes for the safety and administration of the school plant.

 

24. Plans and supervises required fire drills and an emergency preparedness program.

 

25. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students.

 

26. Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students.

 

27. Performs such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent.

Qualifications

1. Valid Certification (Administrative – Type 75)

2. Other qualifications deemed appropriate by Board

Salary/Benefits

Commensurate with experience but no less than $100,000.
