Duties

Komarek School School Psychologist (Kindergarten through 8th grades)

Position Purpose

The School Psychologist serves an important role in supporting the success of Kindergarten through 8th grade students at Komarek School. The School Psychologist coordinates special education and Section 504 evaluations. This person consults with evaluation teams and monitors the timelines for and completion of evaluations. This person facilitates domain meetings, evaluation results meetings, and team problem-solving meetings. The Psychologist leads teams with designing individualized structures and supports that contribute to the educational success of students. 

Essential Functions

  1. Conduct IDEA evaluations using a variety of psychological assessments and rating scales; thoroughly interpret results for staff and parents. 
  2. Utilize strengths-based approach to special education evaluations; provide recommendations for areas of growth through goal-setting in collaboration with evaluation teams.
  3. Facilitate IEP conferences (domains, evaluations, eligibility), team meetings, and problem-solving meetings.
  4. Conduct Section 504 evaluations and facilitate Section 504 meetings.
  5. Facilitate grade-level MTSS data review meetings; analyze and interpret benchmarking and progress monitoring assessment data for teachers.
  6. Collaborate with Reading Specialist, Math Interventionist, and School Social Workers for MTSS intervention planning and data collection.
  7. Provide assistance to staff when designing plans for students needing individualized instruction, accommodations, or modifications.
  8. Consult with teachers and staff on research-based interventions and evidence-based teaching and behavior management strategies.
  9. Support team collection of data for and development of functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans (FBA/BIP).
  10. Assist with District Preschool Screenings.
  11. Provide presentations to school and the community about MTSS, special education, social-emotional learning, and/or other requested topics.

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by School or District Administration.

  • Knowledge of special education laws and best practices
  • Ability to aggregate and disaggregate data for various audiences
  • Knowledge of methods of assessments, interventions, and MTSS framework for academics and social-emotional learning
  • Knowledge of collaborative and consultative models and methods
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge about English Learners' social and academic development.
  • Ability to use computer data systems and applications as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and students
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

 

 

Qualifications

License: Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Psychologist endorsement

Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology

Working Conditions: Full-time position eligible for benefits.

Salary/Benefits

Range between $50,000-$54,500 for a 1st year psychologist
