Duties

  • Provide instruction of the core subjects in the student's native language
  • Set up and manage the teaching-learning process in an effective bilingual/bicultural environment.
  • Obtain and demonstrate knowledge of general education curriculum, including grade level expectations and State standards.
  • Consult and/or collaborate with general education teachers in the areas of assessment, curriculum adaptations, behavior management, and monitoring student progress
  • Prepare and submit program information and reports as requested.
  • Adhere to building and district policies and procedures.
  • Establish developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and self and communicate those to students and their families
  • Create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting as well as multicultural/gender and ability fair/developmentally appropriate. 
  • Select, adapt, and individualize materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skill levels.

Qualifications

•Possess a Bachelor’s Degree (Education) or related field. Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement(s) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).
•Understanding and experience with curriculum design, planning and instruction.
Spanish fluency required
•Strong communication skills (written and oral).
