Duties
Saunemin Grade School is a PreK-8th grade building with a student population of 105 students. Teaching Candidates must possess a growth mindset and be willing to nurture strong relationships with students, parents, and school colleagues. Candidates must also possess the mindset that the social emotional needs of students must be met in order for learning of curriculum to occur. Saunemin Grade School holds students to the highest standards of character and integrity while providing a technology-rich environment with up-to-date curriculum. New teachers to Saunemin Grade School will be supported through a teacher mentoring program, a Reading and Math Interventionist, as well as both in-house Special Education teachers, and a Special Education Cooperative that provides supports and interventions. Saunemin Grade School also provides both a Principal and Assistant Principal who are actively engaged in the day-to-day operations of the building.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Duties:
- Provide dynamic, engaging, collaborative learning experiences in Science for students in 6th - 8th grade. A new curriculum was purchased in 2024 for grades 3-8 for consistency and vertical alignment.
- Utilize ground breaking methodologies and instructional practices within the classroom setting.
- Foster and appreciate the importance of community literacy.
- Integrate digital technologies into the curriculum including Google Apps for Education, SMART Technologies, and others that are grade and subject appropriate.
- Utilize community and regional resources, grant writing, and resource procurement to maximize educational opportunities
- Work collaboratively with special education staff, interventionists, and other service providers to maximize student outcomes.
- Ability to differentiate instructional practices to meet the varying learning styles and needs of students served.
- Collaborate in a positive and professional manner within a dynamic learning environment with other district staff, administrators, and community stakeholders.
- Appreciates student individuality, treating each and every student with care, compassion, and dignity.
- Willing to make a difference in the school and community utilizing "outside of the box" approaches to education.
- Coaching / extracurricular activities may be available
Qualifications
Must meet the requirements set forth by the State of Illinois and hold the proper credentials to teach junior high science.
The perfect applicant would have not only Grades 5-8 science certification, but also grades 5-8 social science certification. That latter is not required, but preferred.
Salary/Benefits
Next year's base salary is $44,028 and increase based on years of experience and education levels. The top end of the scale is $73,482. The Board of Education pays $825 toward health insurance as well as offers tuition reimbursement for coursework toward an approved program of study. Saunemin Community Consolidated School District 438 is a one-building district serving approximately 105 students in a rural setting. Saunemin is located about 15 miles east of Pontiac and about 15 miles south of Dwight. Both nearby communities offer convenient access to Interstate 55 as well as shopping and dining opportunities. Our district offers an on-campus Community Fitness Center that teachers access for free as well as many opportunities for coaching positions.
