Duties

  • Conduct personnel evaluations in all Special Education programs in actual areas of teaching performance, methodology and curriculum in cooperation with the building principal.
  • Be responsible to assist in the orientation of all new Special Education staff to the policy procedures and philosophy of the Cooperative.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff (instruction, teaching methods, behavior/class-room management, etc.)
  • Respond to all special education problems and issues as they occur.
  • Assist to organize and supervise a program of in-service and consultative educational services designed to ensure the professional growth of all Special Education personnel.
  • Facilitate implementation of Special Education Procedures.
  • Organize and serve on committees at the Cooperative.
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring that all children outlined in Article 14 of The School Code of Illinois receive special education services appropriate for their needs.
  • Facilitate program planning annually.
  • Assist in the organization and coordination of all services necessary to provide for the screening, identification, and placement of educational and supportive services needed by such children.
  • Participate in curriculum development.
  • Develop program standards, entrance/exit criteria, transition planning, etc.
  • Ensure compliance maintenance in relation to Federal and State Rules and Regulations.
  • Maintain communications between agencies, districts, etc.
  • Attend administrative and professional meetings.
  • Reviewing/Processing files to assure completeness and maintain a high degree of quality control.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
  • Develop his/her own professional growth through reading, workshops, in-services, conferences, and/or advanced coursework.
  • Maintain adequate records, pupil data, proposals, communications and all other forms of correspondence.
  • Prepare and submit a status report of all existing special education programs, as well as services that are under consideration and development, to the Director by March of each year.
  • Assume all other duties and responsibilities delegated to him/her by the Board and Director.

Qualifications

  • Professional Educator License with LBS-1 endorsement
  • Valid General Administrative endorsement (or working towards)
  • Provide effective leadership for educational staff
  • Ability to collaborate with others in a team to problem solve and work through tasks
  • Ability to perform duties under stress and adhere strict deadlines in order to maintain compliance with special education timelines and special education services for students
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Must be physically able to provide Crisis Prevention Intervention Strategies  

Salary/Benefits

Salary range $75,000 - $85,000. We also offer a competitive benefits package.

Additional Notes

This will be a 10 month contract position. Our program classrooms are located in four different buildings; travel is necessary throughout the day.
