Duties

  • Assume responsibilities for continued professional growth, to achieve and maintain high standards of professional competence.
  • Develop and implement individual educational programs for students with varying functional levels.
  • Evaluate and assess student functioning and progress.
  • Prepare social developmental history for case study.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records for each student’s performance and attendance, including but not limited to pre-post testing, anecdotal records and developmental/academic/behavioral scales.
  • Prepare necessary written materials, including goals, objectives, summaries/reports for all meetings pertaining to student performance.
  • Coordination of team to establish functional analysis of behavior, develop behavior intervention plans and appropriate behavior strategies.

Qualifications

  • Hold a registered, valid Illinois Professional Educator License.
  • School Psychologist endorsement
  • Experience in conducting assessments for students with autism, intellectual disabilities, social emotional disabilities, and other related disabilities.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, collaboration and problem-solving ability with program and district administration, classroom personnel and families.

A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative is comprised of 11-member school districts, located in Burbank, IL, approximately 15 miles from the heart of Chicago. We aim to provide comprehensive special education programs and related services to Students Pre K- age 22 with disabilities, who are residents of our member districts.

Our new therapeutic center offers a collaborative environment for all staff to work together. AERO supports students from EC to age 22, allowing social worker's the opportunity to engage in whole classroom activities, 1:1 sessions, and small group activities in the classroom and around the school building. The center's design includes breakout spaces for more personalized learning. Social Workers are provided computers and technology for teaching and report/documentation completion. AERO also provides assessment tools, curriculum materials, other subscriptions, communication supports, and related service supports from other disciplines like speech/language pathologists, OT/PT, nurses, and BCBAs or Behavior Intervention Specialists.
