Duties
The Library Media Specialist, under the general supervision of the building principal, is responsible for cultivating an enriched and dynamic library media environment that supports the intellectual and academic growth of all students. The specialist provides access to a diverse range of print and digital resources and ensures that students and staff develop the skills needed to effectively locate, evaluate, and use media and information.
This role requires daily engagement with students, including teaching classes each day to promote literacy, develop research and media-literacy skills, and foster a lifelong love of reading. The specialist collaborates with teachers to integrate media resources into instruction, enrich curriculum through strategic resource selection, and support faculty in leveraging technology and media tools to strengthen teaching and learning.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, including all courses to meet credential requirements. Illinois Professional Educator License - Library Information Specialist Endorsement or ELA endorsement.
