Duties

Limestone Walters CCSD #316 has an opening for a full-time special education teacher with LBS1  certification beginning for the 2026-2027 school year.  We are looking for a candidate who will create a  positive learning environment that promotes the intellectual, personal, and social development of all  students. They will work collaboratively with all staff and use data to determine learning priorities, monitor  progress, and assess student achievement. Ultimately, they will help inspire children to achieve important  learning milestones. Join our team for the opportunity to experience life as a LW Rocket.

Roles & Responsibilities 

• Daily instruction and case manager to elementary school aged students.
• Collaboration with teachers, parents, administration, and service staff.
• Supports in the area of inclusion, co-teaching, and small group instruction.
• Curriculum modifications and accommodations based on individual student needs.
• Data analysis to determine learning priorities, progress monitoring, and student achievement.
• Social emotional and academic interventions in individual and small group settings.
• Use data to adapt teaching methods and provide feedback to parents.

Qualifications

• Hold an IL Professional Educator License (PEL) for the particular position as required by the State.
• Hold a Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBSI) endorsement.
• Hold a teaching endorsement in one of the following areas: serious emotional disturbance, autism, mental retardation, orthopedic impairment, traumatic brain injury, and other health impairment. 
• Knowledge of Business Office Programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, slides, etc. 
• Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
• Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
