Duties
Description: Full-time Special Education Teacher for Highland High School SDEP (Social Development and Education Program)
Job Summary: Applicants must be willing to:
- Learn and implement a comprehensive system (including a Point system and a therapeutic component) for student's behavior and functioning.
- Be trained in the structure of the SDEP program and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) by the district's Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- Upload student data on a regular basis to the BCBA.
- Consult with Director of Special Services, Principal, and BCBA on a regular basis to maintain programming integrity and functionality.
- Individualize lessons and deliver instruction to students with a variety of academic and behavioral needs.
- Demonstrate strong classroom management, including the use of trauma-informed practices.
- Demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate high expectation for behavior and learning.
- Receive training and be prepared to use CPI restraint when necessary.
- Learn and use on-line IEP software and write IEPs according to district guidelines.
- Manage and work collaboratively with paraprofessionals (program assistants).
- Cooperate with teachers to support a collaborative school culture.
- Extra curricular/coaching opportunities may be available.
Qualifications
Must meet requirements for reimbursement as an LBS I Endorsed Teacher.
