Duties

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the school nurse to address individual student healthcare needs
  • Support the implementation of individual student healthcare plans (i.e. Diabetes Medical Management Plans and Section 504 Plans)  
  • Provide direct healthcare to individual students as per their healthcare plans (i.e. Diabetes Medical Management Plans and Section 504 Plans) 
  • Support students in monitoring and managing individual healthcare needs, including administration of insulin
  • Provide continuous blood glucose monitoring
  • Recognize and respond to the symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for individual students, documenting  day-to-day care
  • Respond to emergency care situations
  • Engage in regular and frequent communication with parents/guardians
  • Maintain confidentiality related to all student health needs
  • Demonstrate the ability to problem solve in the moment in the best interest of students
  • Attend school-sponsored field trips, as needed
  • Attend school-sponsored, before and after-school activities, as assigned
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Licensed Practical Nurse; certificate of completion from an approved Diabetes Education Program

Salary/Benefits

Starting Hourly Rate: $28.72 per hour; hourly rate adjusted commensurate with experience
Benefits Eligibility: Eligible for full-time benefits for classified personnel
Work Year: 8/21/2023 - 5/31/2024
Days Off:  11 holidays plus winter break (10 days) and spring break (5 days)
Schedule: 8:15am - 3:45pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday; 7:30am - 3:45pm on Thursday and Friday
