Duties

Seneca High School, located in Section 7, is seeking a full-time teacher for its agricultural education program.  Applicants must be honest, highly-competent, caring, reliable, self-motivated, flexible, collaborative, and be willing to go above and beyond her/his duties for the 2024-25 school year. 

The ideal candidate will continue to improve a program of excellence by delivering lessons where students are actively participating in challenging tasks to develop cognitive skills through reflective thought, analysis, problem-solving, evaluation, or creativity and where students apply core knowledge, concepts, or skills to solve real-world problems characteristic of its discipline. The teacher must utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of diverse learners. A respectful and safe learning environment reflecting the district’s core values of the Seneca Way shall be continued.

The Seneca Ag Ed Department utilizes the three-circle method of teaching an average of 150 students annually.  The Seneca FFA has been state and nationally recognized and has a long tradition of success.  The Seneca High School administration, board of education, alumni, and community strongly support this program. 

Current courses offered are: Introduction to Agriculture, Ag Sciences, Ag Mechanics, Introduction to Horticulture, Ag Metal Fabrication (welding) and Ag Business Management.  The newly hired teacher will be responsible for reviewing, improving, and updating the current curriculum. 

Facilities include three classrooms, office, storage areas, mechanics shop, and welding area on campus.  The Ag Ed Department also manages and operates the 115-acre Land Laboratory located 2 miles from the school.  The Land Lab includes crop acreage, woods, pond, garden areas, conservation areas, and unlimited potential for teaching agriculture.   The Ag Ed Center on the Land Lab is used for livestock shows, sales, and other agriculture events. 

Consideration will be given to candidates with endorsements in other content areas.
