  Job Summary:
The School-Based Technician performs a range of functions to help faculty and students with teaching and learning. The Building Based Technicians are stationed in the Media Centers of schools and they will work primarily with students.  Responsibilities include: supporting the use of media and devices in the Media Center, ensuring that students have functioning technology for instruction, maintaining accurate records to manage the inventory of media and devices, and troubleshooting issues related to student and staff technology.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:          

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior successful experience working in an educational environment and/or with computers preferred.
  • Valid state of Illinois driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Ability to learn and apply computer technology skills rapidly.
  • Strong communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback.
  • Ability to compose correspondence, reports, and/or other required written materials.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, inquiries, and/or complaints.
  • Displays courtesy, tact, and respect when dealing with others.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to identify and define problem(s), collect and analyze data, establish facts, and determine solutions.

Salary/Benefits

alary Range:  

 

  • Starting salary of $27,170.00;
  • Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive benefits package;

Additional Notes

Job Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Assists District personnel and students in the use of media and technology computers in order to benefit instructional programs.
  • Assists in the maintenance of inventory records for media and technology assets. 
  • Assists users with problem solving by responding and resolving issues communicated through work orders and requests promptly. 
  • Maintains a commitment to improvements and learning by participating in technological opportunities.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks on classroom technology and assorted peripheral devices.
  • Serves as a liaison between the district staff, principals, other administrators, and the technology department. 
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community. 
  • Performs other duties of similar nature and level as assigned by the supervisor.      
  • Work Calendar:
    • 9 month position
    • Work hours: 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
