Duties

 Job Summary:
The teacher librarian provides access to information and resources for all students and staff at the school. The specialist manages the selection and ordering of materials through a process that involves staff, administrators, and students. In addition, the specialist consults with teachers to coordinate learning experiences utilizing available school, district, and outside resources. The specialist develops lessons that incorporate literacy, technology, and communication skills as they relate to the standards identified in the curriculum.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

  • Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a library information specialist endorsement (grade K-12);
  • Candidates with a current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an elementary education endorsement (K-5 or 1-6) who are willing to take the coursework to obtain the library information specialist endorsement may be considered;
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers and assist them in implementing instructional technologies to enhance lessons-Able to take a leadership role in promoting and demonstrating the use of new technologies and media with teachers;
  • Individual must be able to develop and administer a budget for purchasing resources;
  • Able to work with a diverse student population and establish open and regular communication with parents and guardians;
  • Ability to assess the learning of students and modify or enhance instruction as needed;
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions;
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles;  
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

 

  • Starting salary of $48,304; (Please click the link to view the current (Salary Schedule);
  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience and includes a competitive benefits package;

  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule;
  • We offer a mentoring program for teachers who are new to the District.

Additional Notes

Working Conditions:
- 180 days per year - August through May/June.
