Job Summary:
Cook County School District 130 will offer continued learning opportunities for select students over the summer. Rostering will be completed through conducting a districtwide needs-based analysis. The expected programs and staffing include:
Summer School: Estimated 20 teachers
Students receiving additional supports related to skills and concepts of literacy and mathematics; Participating students were enrolled in a Cook County School District 130 first- through seventh-grade program during the past school year. Program will be offered in both English and Spanish.
Ultimately, staffing for these programs will be based on the needs of our students.
A Summer Programs 2023 teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans and delivering engaging, differentiated instruction that is aligned with the needs of their students. The Summer Programs teacher closely collaborates with other staff and administration in addressing a variety of instructional and linguistic needs of their students. The Summer Program teacher communicates with students’ parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress. The Summer Programs teacher is responsible for creating an environment of respect and rapport and establishing a culture for learning in which safety and order is the norm.

Qualifications:
Candidates must be a current Cook County School District 130 employee, with the abilities to:
- Assess the learning of students and modify instruction as needed;
- Analyze data and use it to make instructional decisions;
- Utilize best practices in delivering reading and/or mathematics instruction;
- Incorporate technology as a means of enhancing instruction;
- Work with a diverse group of students;
- Maintain strong classroom management; and
- Establish open and regular communication with parents and guardians.
In addition, the candidate must ensure their teaching license is up to date in ELIS for the length of the entire Summer School. Staff placements will be based on current endorsements.
To be considered for the Summer Program, candidates will need: Current and valid PEL with an early childhood education or elementary education endorsement and/or a middle school education endorsement. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
For the above programs, there will be rosters created to specifically support Emergent Bilingual learners. For these specific positions, candidates will need: Bilingual endorsement or an Educator License with Stipulations (ELS-TBE) for Bilingual Education Teacher. Candidates must be fluent in Spanish.

Thursday, May 29, 2023 (by one hour appointments between 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.)
Summer Program student attendance days (15) – Remote Learning
Monday, June 5, 2023, to Thursday, June 8, 2023 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
Monday, June 12, 2023, to Thursday, June 15, 2023 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
Tuesday, June 20, 2023, to Thursday, June 22, 2023 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
Monday, June 26, 2023, to Thursday, June 29, 2023 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
The student instructional day is scheduled for 3.25 hours from 8:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on each student attendance day. Teachers will be paid for 45 minutes of plan on each student attendance day between 8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.. Teachers will be expected to log into their Google Classroom at 8:00 a.m. with their video off and microphone muted during their planning period. A weekly team meeting will be scheduled during the 8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. planning period.
Note: Summer School is an opportunity for teachers to provide input into practices and procedures that the District may be considering for implementation in the upcoming school year. These programs are primarily used to support students, but they also serve as an opportunity to conduct action-research that will shape the direction of student instruction and feedback, student and family engagement, and professional development for the District.
Salary/Benefits
Salary:
Contractual rate for 66 hours
(4 hours per day for 15 student attendance days + 4 hours of professional development + 2 hours of instructional materials preparation)

Selected applicants will be notified about their Summer Program teaching assignments (grade level and/or program) prior to Wednesday, June 1, 2023.
