Duties

  • Provide direct social work services to students with IEP's, 504 plans, or in Tiered interventions.
  • Provide leadership with building behavioral needs. Provide support to building problem solving teams.
  • Function as liaison with parents, agencies and district. Complete evaluation components as part of a special education evaluation team.
  • Use knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school, and community to intervene for student success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, consultation, program development, dropout prevention and coordination of school and community services
  • Advocate for appropriate services for students and their families
  • Consult and collaborate with stakeholders on behalf of students and their families
  • Effectively plan, implement and evaluate programs that promote student and family success and demonstrate accountability by documenting the positive outcomes resulting from the services provided.
  • Act as the Homeless Liaison for the District
  • Arrange for and complete the social developmental study and/or family analysis as related to the nature of the learning and social behavior problems of children referred for service.
  • Plan and develop appropriate social work intervention techniques for children for whom social work evaluations have been completed.
  • Arrange for conferences about children for whom social work evaluations and interventions have been completed and established.
  • Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and professional demeanor when dealing with school personnel and the public as a school leader.

Qualifications

  1. Valid Professional Educator License with School Social Worker Endorsement
  2. Master’s Degree in School Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program with a specialization in school social work
  3. Demonstrated desire to help all children.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary/Benefits

Nine month school year.  Salary and work year to be established by the School Board according to HCTA Contract.
