Duties

Special Education Teacher (1.0 FTE)

District 91 

District 91 is seeking a highly qualified and versatile Special Education Instructional Teacher to provide instructional support and case management for 4th and 5th graders for the upcoming school year. 

This role requires a professional who can maintain high standards of service across different educational environments while ensuring seamless continuity for students.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of proficiency in interpersonal dynamics and professional adaptability:

  • Collaborative Leadership: Proven ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, including General Education staff, Special Education colleagues, and administration.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Skilled in maintaining transparent, empathetic, and professional communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.
  • Adaptability & Flexibility: Ability to remain effective and student-centered amidst changing schedules, diverse school cultures, and evolving student requirements.
  • Dynamic Problem Solving: A proactive approach to instructional challenges, ensuring that interventions are adjusted in real-time to meet student needs.

Technical Requirements & Expertise

In addition to strong interpersonal skills, candidates must demonstrate technical mastery in the following areas:

  • Instructional Design: Expertise in developing and implementing lesson plans that directly address specific IEP goals.
  • Embedded Assessment: Proficiency in utilizing ongoing, formative assessments to track progress and adjust instruction dynamically.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Strong knowledge of state and federal special education regulations, with a commitment to accurate and timely IEP development and data collection.

Position Details

  • Total FTE: 1.0 (Full-Time)
  • Licensure Requirement: Valid State Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement (LBS1 or equivalent).

Current LBS1 Certification/Endorsement Knowledgeable in special education best practices.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Lockport District 91 Board of Education and the Lockport District 91 Teachers' Association.
