Duties

  • Develops a long range plan, with high expectations, based on
    instructional/thematic/therapeutic/developmental sequence
    • Works collaboratively in assessment and educational program planning with
    members of a transdisciplinary team
    • Demonstrates knowledge and research in the fields of physical education,
    M.O.V.E., recreation and leisure as it relates to those students with disabilities
    • Involves the learner in setting goals, choosing tasks, and evaluating progress
    • Facilitates the development of thinking, learning, and communication strategies
    • Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to grow
    • Communicates in an effective, collaborative, and positive manner with
    colleagues, students, and families
    • Works collaboratively with member districts, outside agencies, and cooperative
    personnel, when appropriate to assist with meeting student needs
    Learning Context and Differentiated Instruction
    • Demonstrates an understanding of individual student needs and various low
    incidence disabilities
    • Personalizes instruction to support individual needs, strengths, and interests of
    students
    • Designs instruction that is integrated, challenging, and authentic as well as
    engages the learner

• Employs a variety of techniques, methods, and materials to meet individual
student needs
• Incorporates knowledge of current research and best practice trends into
educational program planning for students
• Provides instruction that supports learners in all areas of development including
social, education, physical, emotional and communication
• Integrates students goals and objectives into all aspects of adaptive physical
education and recreation/leisure activities
• Organizes time, environment, materials and equipment to facilitate learning
• Adapts learning opportunities and materials to meet student needs
• Demonstrates effective individual and group behavior management techniques

Qualifications

Illinois PEL with endorsement in Physical Education required.

Additional LBS I endorsement preferred.
