Duties

Job Goal
The position is responsible for assisting the Principal in all aspects of administration of the school, including the use of leadership skills, supervisory and administrative skills, to promote the educational development of each child within the school.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Assists with supervision and evaluation of the certified and non-certified staff
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating staff development programs for the faculty
  • Assists in maintaining discipline; handles special cases as necessary, and makes recommendations for action to the Principal
  • Works closely with the administrator of Special Education to ensure students having an IEP are provided educational services required for students to make AYP
  • Conducts and coordinates safety inspections and safety drill practice activities and makes related recommendations for action to the Principal
  • Assists in supervising, reporting, and monitoring student attendance and makes recommendations for action to the Principal
  • Participates in meetings of the Administration 
  • Assists with scheduling and supervision of extra-curricular and extra-duty activities
  • Assists in supervising and co-coordinating transportation, breakfast, lunchroom and other support services
  • Performs such record-keeping functions and special reports as the Principal may direct
  • Stays current of exemplary educational instructional practices for educating elementary age students
  • Serves as the grant administrator for any grants assigned that impact teaching and learning for the grade levels that you serve; assists in writing grants under the direction of the Principal
  • Assists, as assigned, with matters relative to the educational program and curriculum of the school
  • Assists substitute teachers daily 
  • Assists with graduation activities
  • Supervises the arrival and dismissal of the student body
  • Maintains the student roster of lockers/locks and coordinates regular student locker inspections 
  • Serves as Acting Principal in the absence of the Principal
  • Ensures new students are oriented with rules and regulations
  • Enforces proper dress codes for students 
  • Cooperates with the parent organizations and assist in the promotion of their activities
  • Acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting policies and activities of the school and encouraging community participation in school life
  • Assists in coordinating monthly newsletter/calendar to community with Principal’s office
  • Coordinates behavior management issues with itinerant staff such as the Psychologist and Social Worker
  • Attends School Board meetings and report to the Board as requested
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and type 75 administrative certificate; General Administrative Endorsement
  • Experience in personnel administration in education setting
  • Ability to work independently, stay on task, multi-task, and take responsibility to complete assigned projects in a timely and efficient manner
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Teacher Evaluator certified
