Anticipated Physical Education/Health Teacher - Gardner South-Wilmington High School

Duties

SUMMARY: To provide instruction focusing on students' social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. 

DUTIES

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and designated times.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the student's individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and - in harmony with the goals - establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc., and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives through instruction and action.
  • Adheres to the published policies and procedures of the district.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Works cooperatively with all staff in identifying, diagnosing, and remedying individual students with specialized needs.
  • Communicates with parents regarding student progress as needed.
  • Makes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develops appropriate classroom behavior and procedures expectations and provides an equitable education for all students.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional development.

Qualifications

Valid IL Teaching License appropriate for the assigned grade level and subject area. Health is a plus but not required. 

Salary/Benefits

Aligned to the GSWHS Collective Bargaining Agreement. Year 1 Step 1 $43,003.
