Duties

 Job Summary:  The health paraprofessional assists and supports the school nurse with a variety of clerical and student health/medical services. The health paraprofessional is trained to perform basic health screenings/assessments, appropriately care for students who are ill or injured, and carryout procedures under the direction of the school nurse. The District is seeking to hire four paraprofessionals to work in school health offices. 

Qualifications

 Qualifications:

• Must hold a State of Illinois Educator License with Stipulations for Paraprofessionals - ELS (PARA);
• Experience in the health care field preferred;
• Knowledge of basic first aid;
• Ability to work closely with the school nurse and the administration to assist students with a variety of basic health care needs;
• Must be able to complete clerical tasks, including maintaining student health files and entering information into an electronic database;
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, use of email and Google Suite applications;
• Ability to follow oral and written directions;
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and administration;
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
• Ability to use independent judgment and demonstrate initiative;
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships as well as a commitment to teamwork;
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
