POSITION GOAL: Provides guidance on and implements literature circles, provides direct instruction in writing, implements online programs as needed, and project-based leaming.


  • Facilitates and implements learning focused on the Civil Rights Movement
  • Focuses on student leadership and civic engagement
  • Provides writing mini-lessons
  • Instructs and then guides community mentors
  • Attendance at some field trips
  • General classroom types of responsibilities KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS:
  • Excellent relationships with adults and students
  • Some knowledge of the Peoria community and region
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Technical skills (Word, Excel and One Drive)
  • Knowledge of the Civil Rights Movement (preferred)


  • Experience scheduling and running programs
  • Experience working with adults and students
  • Certified educator preferred; Must have associates degree at minimum Lifelong learner
