Duties

Lake Forest Public School Districts 67 and 115 is seeking a full-time Benefits and Onboarding Specialist.
 
Description: The Benefits and Onboarding Specialist is responsible for employee benefits administration, recruitment and onboarding duties, employee records management, and business office and human resource processes. This position ensures processes are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and District internal controls.

Employee Benefits Administration Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily operations of employee benefits.
  • Administer employee benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Process and maintain required information in payroll and insurance systems to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper benefit and deduction amounts.
  • Audit and reconcile payroll deduction and benefits amounts for employee benefits.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve employee benefit issues and questions from current and potential employees.
  • Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of employee benefits packages.
  • Audit and submit payment for employee benefit premiums.
  • Invoice employees for insurance premiums not collected through payroll.
  • Complete and submit ACA reports.


Recruitment and Onboarding Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of hiring practices.
  • Manage new employee personnel and benefits paperwork.
  • Prepare new employee personnel and business office files.
  • Communicate new employee information with applicable administration, departments and union leadership.
  • Enroll new employee in appropriate systems and programs.
  • Orient new employees to the district.


Record Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current personnel and business office files.
  • Perform file audits to ensure all required employee documentation is collected and maintained.
  • Organize and record personnel paperwork for compliance by the Lake County Regional Office of Education.
  • Process change of assignment paperwork and notify applicable administrators, departments, and union leadership.
  • Complete termination paperwork and notify essential administrators, departments, and union leadership.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BA degree preferred.
  • Relevant experience and/or post-secondary training in benefits, school business operations, or human resources.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and school-based business management information systems.
  • Follow all Board of Education policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively – written and verbal.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Outgoing, friendly, and customer focused.
  • Comfortable and pleasant demeanor in very busy environments.                                                            
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities and must be a team player.                                   
  • Works with speed, attention to detail, consistency, and organization.                                    
  • Maintain professional appearance.
