Duties

• Responsible for Special Education Staffings, which includes: Domains for
Evaluations/Re-Evaluations, Annual Reviews, Intakes, and Change of Placement;
• Ensures the effective transportation for all out of district students through working
with district staff and vendors;
• Attendance at Annual Review Meetings and Case Study Re-Evaluations when
appropriate;
• Attendance at Speed coordinating meetings 
• Attends Data Meetings and assists with RTI implementation;

Qualifications

Education/Experience – Any combination of education and experience that would
provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be
qualifying. However, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
• An Illinois Administrative Certificate (Type 75) and/or Director of Special
Education Endorsement or significant hours towards such endorsement
(preferred).
• Teacher certification in the State of Illinois,
• Coursework in school administration, or any such additional qualifications as the
Board may deem appropriate.
• Experience in educational leadership for classroom management techniques and a
variety of effective instructional strategies,
• Knowledge of best instructional practice in helping all students achieve high
standards,
• Ability to relate positively to school and community constituencies including
under-served and/or diverse groups. Handle confidential information discretely
and professionally.
• Ability to use discretion and exercise sound judgment.
• Critical thinker and problem solver.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to exercise appropriate initiative and work independently.
• Good organizational and time management skills.

Visits special education classrooms throughout the district and for off-site
placements to ensure a high level of instruction in accordance with the district's
educational priorities,
• On occasion, models effective special education instructional models for district
teachers,
• Monitors all district interventions and creates data analysis related to curricular
and student interventions,
• Uses data to quarterly report to superintendent on the most effective intervention
strategies currently in use as well as the most effective use of district resources,
• •Coordinates and supervises Tertiary Meetings (2 days per month);
• Coordination and Communication with various State and District Support
organizations and personnel (IST, PBIS, SASED, Psychologist, SPED
Secretaries, Principal, Superintendent, Transportation Companies).
• Responsible for continuing adoption of Common Core Curriculum across the
district;
• Provide professional development on best instructional practices adopted for use
across the district (CRISS, Daily 5, etc.);
• Provide training to teachers in the effective evaluation of common and national
assessments;
• Identify areas of strength and areas in need of improvement as related to district
achievement;
• Assists Principal with the orderly scheduling of all student classrooms and grade
assignments including pre-kindergarten and early childhood.
• Assists Principal with development and implements plans designed to insure the
safety of students and staff in emergencies.
• Assists Principal with the scheduling of meetings between parents and staff for
the purpose of exchanging information regarding the progress of a student or to
clarify views on some aspect of a school function or program and the
documentation of such meetings.
• Informs the Superintendent of any problems, concerns, or suggestions that might
have an impact on the operation of the district.
• Supervises the maintenance and accuracy of all official records and assists with
the transmission of those records to authorized agencies.
• Supports buildings on implementing inclusive environments,
• Makes every effort to promote successful educational experiences within the
school, which includes maintaining proper order and discipline while ensuring the
safety of all students/staff while on school grounds.
• Guards the confidentiality of all information.

Homeless
• Responsible for communication with: District Office, Building Secretaries,
Building Social Workers, and Families related to responsibilities and
transportation; Coordination of Transportation and Reimbursement.

ELL Coordinator
• Responsible for management of ELL testing and compliance with State
requirements.
Performs such other duties and assignments and tasks as may be directed by the
Superintendent of Schools.
