Duties
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to support the holistic development of our K-12 student body. This role is pivotal in fostering a supportive academic environment, addressing the social-emotional needs of our students, and ensuring individual success from early education through graduation and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
• Social-Emotional Support: Provide individual and group counseling to K-12 students to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• IEP Collaboration: Actively participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), monitoring progress and providing necessary support to meet student goals.
• Academic Planning (High School): Collaborate closely with high school administration to develop student schedules and ensure all students remain on track for graduation requirements.
• Post-Graduation Pathways: Guide high school students in navigating their futures, including applications for trade schools, colleges, and career training programs.
• Student Advocacy: Serve as a bridge between students, families, teachers, and administration to advocate for student well-being and academic success.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
• Valid state certification/licensure as a School Counselor.
• Strong understanding of social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks.
• Experience with IEP processes and special education advocacy.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Salary/Benefits
Salary and benefits are based upon education and experience per the Christmas education Association contract. This contract can be found on our website at www.chrisman.k-12.il.us.
