Duties
Description: Full-time Special Education Teacher for Highland Middle School SDEP (Social Developmental and Education Program) grades 7-8
Job Summary: Applicants must be willing to:
- Learn and implement a comprehensive system (including a Point system and a therapeutic component) for promoting student behavioral success.
- Be trained in the structure of the SDEP program and ACT therapy by the district's Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- Collect and upload student behavior data to the BCBA.
- Collect, organize, and use data to drive decision-making for academics and behavior.
- Consult with the Director of Special Services, Principal, and BCBA on a regular basis to maintain programming integrity and functionality.
- Individualize lessons and deliver instruction to students with a variety of academic and behavioral needs.
- Receive training and be prepared to use CPI de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Learn and use online IEP software and write IEPs according to state and district guidelines.
- Manage and work collaboratively with paraprofessionals (program assistants and individual care aides).
- Contribute to and support school improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with administration and related service staff (counselor, social worker, nurse, etc.) in order to deliver service to students.
Qualifications
Qualifications: Must meet requirements for reimbursement as an LBS I Endorsed Teacher.
