Duties

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of
the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of
immediate supervisor.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and harmony with the
state, district and/or building learner outcomes---establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units,
and projects and communicates these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical
limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student
groups involved.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education, instructional
goals and learner outcomes.
- Uses a variety of assessments to measure the accomplishments of students on a regular basis
and provides progress reports as required.
- Takes all necessary and essential precautions to protect students, and secure equipment,
materials, & facilities, while overseeing the safety and security conditions of the facility or area in
which assigned activity is conducted at all times that students are present.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and
administrative regulation.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and
conduct, and, for the classrooms, develops essential rules of classroom behavior and procedure,
and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes
outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Strives to work cooperatively with other staff in providing a positive environment conducive to
student learning.
- All other essential duties as assigned by the Board of Education, Superintendent or Building
Principal(s).
- Displays professional standards and promotes a positive school image with actions and words.
- Develops lesson plans and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, lab work, and
clean up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
- Demonstrates lab materials, equipment, and processes, using standard or teacher-prepared
models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aides.
- Instructs pupils in the use of eye and body protection, safety standards, first aid procedures
and in the use, care, and safe operation of lab equipment.
- Maintains control of storage, use and security of equipment. Makes minor adjustments and
requests repairs to tools and equipment as required.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct needed to provide an orderly, safe, and
productive environment in activity-type classroom with many potential hazards. Oversees the
safety and security conditions of the facility or area in which assigned activity is conducted at all
times that students are present.
- Keeps informed of the industrial community’s job entry requirements and instructs the pupils in
the rudiments of getting and retaining jobs.
25. Supervises pupils in out-of-class activities during the assigned working day.
Qualifications
Valid Illinois Professional Educators License appropriate to the position.
Such additional qualifications as the governing authorities may find
appropriate and acceptable.

SALARY: Per the salary schedule outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CUSD#1 Board of Education and the South Scott Federation of Teachers, available at winchesterschools.net>district>contracts>teacher contract
