School Psychologist/Case Manager

Duties

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the screening of school enrollments and preschoolers ages 3-5 to identify children who should be referred for case study evaluation.
  • Participates in Educational Conferences for students referred in each building as having difficulties within the educational setting.
  • Coordinates diagnostic testing in special education case studies and update evaluations which address referral questions consistent with requirements specified in Rules and Regulations to Govern the Administration and Operation of Special Education.
  • Conducts individual psychological evaluations, interpret findings, prepare psychological reports, and make recommendations which will lead to meaningful educational experiences for the child.
  • Reviews transfer special education records to make recommendations pertinent to the student’s educational program.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary staffings, case study updates, and annual reviews for special education students.
  • Actively seeks community resources to assist students and parents.
  • Coordinates/monitors all private or residential student referrals and placements.
  • Assists as a resource person for teachers and other school personnel in relation to behavioral classroom management, learning problems, psychological services, special education, testing, child development, and instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Analyzes and provides strategies that will assist students and teachers in the school setting.
  • Consults with out-of-district medical and mental health professionals to coordinate the provision of appropriate student educational programs.
  • Participates in teacher inservice education in areas related to school psychology.
  • Assists in coordinating district and state standardized testing programs.
  • Consults in district program and curriculum development.
  • Promotes personal and professional development by attending conferences related to the field of psychology.
  • Consults with the Director of Student Support Services concerning changes in procedures or regulations relating to the identification, evaluation, and placement of special education students.
  • Prepares oral and/or written reports relevant to the psychology position as requested by the Director of Student Support Services.
  • Provides crisis intervention services to children and families in the district.
  • Understands ADA, IDEA, and State mandates regarding student and parent due process.
  • Administers district at-risk programs as they relate to this job to provide for safe working and learning conditions, providing for both physical safety and environmentally safe conditions to work in and learn.
  • Follows universal precautions in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Maintains security and confidentiality of records, tests, and other items relating to students and staff.
  • Provides for the safety and security of any and all students should a dangerous situation arise.
  • Assumes duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education/Principal and/or Superintendent.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 1.  Master’s Degree in School, Educational or Clinical Psychology

                                   with Illinois Type 73 Certification
