Duties
- Operate school buses in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic regulations and safety protocols.
- Ensure the safe boarding and disembarking of students, assisting them as necessary.
- Monitor student behavior on the bus and enforce safety rules to maintain a respectful and orderly environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to address any concerns or issues.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of bus routes, student attendance, and incidents.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on safety protocols and regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain one.
- Previous experience driving a bus or working with children preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for transporting students.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening as required by law.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
