Duties
Saunemin Grade School is a PreK-8th grade building with a student population of 105 students. Teaching Candidates must possess a growth mindset and be willing to nurture strong relationships with students, parents, and school colleagues. Candidates must also possess the mindset that the social emotional needs of students must be met in order for learning of curriculum to occur. Saunemin Grade School holds students and staff to the highest standards of character and integrity while providing a technology-rich environment with up-to-date curriculum. New teachers to Saunemin Grade School will be supported through a teacher mentoring program, a Reading and Math Interventionist, as well as both in-house Special Education teachers, and a Special Education Cooperative that provides supports and interventions. Saunemin Grade School also provides both a Principal and Assistant Principal who are actively engaged in the day-to-day operations of the building.
This position provides instruction to students with individualized educational needs and performs a wide variety of tasks with curriculum planning, supervision, presenting and reinforcing learning concepts, and teaching Special Education students in a classroom setting that is both push in and pull out. This person would also be responsible for maintaining student IEPs, meeting deadlines, tracking goals and communicating progress with parents/guardians, and working closely with staff from the special education cooperative as well as classroom paraprofessionals, classroom teachers, and other special education teachers.
Qualifications
Candidate must have or be working towards a Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
Salary/Benefits
Next year's base salary is $44,028 and increase based on years of experience and education levels. The top end of the scale is $73,482. The Board of Education pays $825 toward health insurance as well as offers tuition reimbursement for coursework toward an approved program of study. Saunemin Community Consolidated School District 438 is a one-building district serving approximately 105 students in a rural setting. Saunemin is located about 15 miles east of Pontiac and about 15 miles south of Dwight. Both nearby communities offer convenient access to Interstate 55 as well as shopping and dining opportunities. Our district offers an on-campus Community Fitness Center that teachers access for free as well as many opportunities for coaching positions.
