Duties
Waltham Elementary School is hiring a part-time permanent paraprofessional for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. Paraprofessionals will work all hours/days that students are in attendance.
Duties include:
- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student records.
- Support students with emotional or behavior concerns, and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
- Be capable of physically assisting students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, etc.).
- Have demonstrated the ability to work effectively under the direction of others.
- Have demonstrated the ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Willing to assume any responsibilities appropriate for the position.
- Behave and speak in a professional manner at all times.
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- Attend staff and team meetings as required.
- Monitor lunchroom and playground activities as assigned.
- Performs duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.
- Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Classroom paraprofessionals work under the overall supervision of their building administration with direct supervision provided by classroom teachers.
Qualifications
Must possess Illinois Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement.
Salary/Benefits
Based on district non-certified schedule. IMRF covered position.
