Jr. High ELA for 2026-2027

Duties

Damiansville Elementary School is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and passionate English Language Arts teacher to serve students in grades 6–8. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering academic excellence, student growth, and a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking. This educator will play an essential role in creating a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment while collaborating with colleagues to support the academic and social-emotional development of all students.

  • Envision Excellence as an ELA teacher for grades 6-8 in our outstanding K-8 school district
  • Maximize time on task by ensuring that all classroom lessons and activities are directly tied to standards
  • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, frequent professional development, and feedback/coaching meetings
  • Design and implement targeted daily whole group and small group lesson plans, as well as assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
  • Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
  • Develop a classroom environment that promotes a passion for reading and writing.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) appropriate for the position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Illinois Learning Standards for English Language Arts
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team-oriented school culture
  • Strong communication skills with parents/guardians, students, and colleagues

Salary/Benefits

Based upon experience and education per union contract.
