Duties

  • Pick up district issued computer on August 2025.
  • Attend Induction Academy I for teachers new to D300: August 2025.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Provide preventative and reactive counseling, both individual and group, in order to assist students in finding solutions to personal, social, and educational problems.
  • Serve as a resource person for career and vocational educational information.
  • Serve as a resource person to parents and students concerning community services.
  • Serve as a resource person to students regarding college selection and financial assistance.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and other school personnel regarding students concerns.
  • Coordinate effective staff and parent communication.
  • Coordinate and participate in the pupil personnel referral procedure at the building level.
  • Assist in the registration and orientation programs for students.
  • Adjust student programs and schedules during the school year.
  • Coordinate the implementation and monitoring of individual student 4 year plans.
  • Coordinate the District assessment programs within the building (i.e. PSAE, Local Assessments, College Entrance.)
  • Coordinate the maintenance of students records.
  • Advise administrators and staff on the matters of student concerns.
  • Interpret the guidance program to the community.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the building administrator.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.

Qualifications

Illinois licensure with School Counselor endorsement. Ability to work with all levels of students as the Counselor. Knowledge of the college readiness skills and experience with common core standards are preferred. Team work and collaboration are required, along with reflection and a desire to continually improve your practice.
