Duties
DePue Unit School District has an immediate anticipated opening for a full-time art teacher. Our school is a one-school building with approximately 325 students located near Spring Valley, IL. The position includes teaching all aspects of art to Kindergarten through 12th grade students. The art teacher roles and responsiblities.
- Design and deliver age-appropriate art curricula for elementary, middle, and high school students covering various mediums (drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and digital art).
- Introduce foundational concepts, art history, art theory, and critical analysis tailored to different developmental stages.
- Guide students through hands-on studio projects while fostering creativity, self-expression, and technical skills.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized art studio environment.
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, storage, and inventory of art equipment, materials, and hazardous tools (e.g., kilns, printmaking presses, craft knives).
- Establish clear behavioral expectations to maintain an engaging and supportive classroom environment.
- Evaluate student progress through rubrics, portfolio reviews, and formative assessments.
- Organize and curate an annual student art exhibition, displays, or showcases within the school and local community.
Qualifications
alid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) with a Visual Arts (K-12 or PK-12) content area endorsement.
