Duties
Special Education Teacher - Elementary Grades
- Implement IEP goals and track/record data toward those goals by employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the capabilities and/or multiple disabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
- Differentiate instruction and facilitate activities and lessons that drive students toward demonstrating appropriate academic achievement while striving to meet the needs of all learners in the classroom setting
- Assess the accomplishments and academic progress of students on a regular basis, provide progress reports as required, and effectively use formal and informal assessments to plan lessons that differentiate instruction for individual needs
- Manage student behavior and support social - emotional learning within the classroom setting
- Adhere to the policies and procedures as established by the Board of Education and Administration
- Work harmoniously with students, parents, colleagues, and the administrative team to build relationships within the school community
- Collaborate / Co-teach with staff within and across multiple grade levels and provide guidance to and management of paraprofessional staff
Qualifications
Preferred: Candidates hold the appropriate Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)/LBS1 and demonstrate the following characteristics: excellent leadership and communication skills, knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies and exceptional technology skills.
Salary/Benefits
Salary is based upon the negotiated teacher contract as well as experience and level of education.

The district will consider special education short-term approval candidates.
