Duties
Support tier 1 social emotional learning
Use data to inform MTSS services to support social emotional needs of students identified as at-risk
Conduct social developmental histories as part of the special education evaluations to assess the behavioral and emotional needs of students, comprised of parent interviews, student behavior data, team consultation, observations, and normative data
Create and implement behavior plans to de-escalate and manage student behavior
Engage in the problem-solving process with teachers, specialists, and parents to discuss individual student needs and interventions
Work collaboratively with the special education team and general education staff to ensure individual student's needs are met
Actively participate on and/or lead school crisis intervention team (self-harm risk assessments, behavioral threat assessments, mandated reporting, grief support, etc.)
Facilitate individual sessions, groups and classroom lessons to enhance social and emotional development of students
Plan, coordinate, and implement mandated social emotional programs including Erin’s Law, bullying prevention and suicide prevention
Serve as liaison between student, home, school, and community resources referring families to available services
Partner with local community behavioral health and social service organizations to support students and families
Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Current Professional Educational License registered in Region 6
West Cook ISC with an endorsement as a School Social Worker
Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly valued.
