[Anticipated] High School English or Social Studies Teacher for 2026-2027

Duties

1. Plans a program of study that, as much asd possible, meets the individual needs, interest and abilities of students. 

2. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, to the creation of a positive self-image and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students 

3. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and  - in harmony with the goals - establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. to communicate these objectives to students. 

4. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting state objectives. 

5. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. 

6. Counsels with colleagues, students and /or parents on a regular basis

7. Provides accommodations for students with disabilities to gain access to the instruction as required with the assistance of the case manager and district specialists. 

8. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. 

9. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers. 

10. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. 11. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. 

12. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations, 

13. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable times, 

14. Attends and participates in faculty, professional learning communities and committee meetings as assigned. 

15. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods. 

16. Ensures that statutory and common law health and safety rights are extended to all visitors, employees, and students. 

17. Endeavors to make certain that the district's buildings and grounds are maintained in a safe condition. 

18. Surveys and inspects on a daily basis all equipment and properties under his/her direct supervision. Responsible to provide careful supervision and protection of all districts' real and personal property. 

19. Supervises and endeavors to protect all district students from harm or injury. 

20. A determined percent of his/her total contract shall be allocated tot eh function of risk management and appropriate charge-off shall be claimed against the risk management program. 

21. Assumes all additional duties as prescribed under "instructional staff" in the Board Policy Manual. 

22. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be, from time to time, requessted. 

 

Qualifications

Professional Educator License with secondary endorsement in English/Language Arts or Social Science, Bachelor of Science degree.

Salary/Benefits

Salary based on beginning of 2026-2027 school year schedule: $48,900 (Bachelor's degree with no experience). Benefits include paid TRS, single paid health insurance, life insurance, sick leave days, personal leave days, a tuition reimbursement program, and recognized previous TRS experience on the salary schedule.
