Duties

TITLE: Curriculum Coordinator of 21st Century Learning QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s degree in elementary or secondary education 2. Master’s Degree preferred 3. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License 4. Administrative Endorsement (Type 75) Preferred but not required 5. At least 5 years teaching experience 6. Skill, knowledge and ability to communicate effectively with a broad constituency, including parents 7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications that the Board finds appropriate and acceptable REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction ¬ JOB GOAL: Provide leadership and coordination to produce an aligned and articulated instructional program in all core subject areas. To improve teaching and learning by providing leadership in curriculum development, curriculum design, professional development, instruction, and evaluation in all subject areas as it relates to the infusion of 21st Century practices across the instructional system. Provide staff ¬with research based best practices related to 21st century learning to sustain continuous improvements in curriculum, assessments, and teaching activities to ensure that every student has access to high quality instruction to meet or exceed the standards for college and career readiness. Demonstrated ability to provide high quality presentations to teachers, administrators and the Board of Education; ? Excellent interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; ? Demonstrated ability to utilize instructional technology and understanding of TPACK philosophy; ? Have an excellent record of attendance and high ethics; PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Collaborates with Central Office Administrators, Principals, Assistant/Associate Principals, Instructional Leaders, teachers and all staff to meet the goals of the District’s Instructional Priorities, District Improvement Goals, and Strategic Plan; ? Work cooperatively and collectively with principals, supervisors, department chairs, and teachers to ensure curriculum, instructional programs and services are coordinated in all K-12 schools and are administered uniformly and equitably; ? Coordinate the review, development, and revision of programs and curriculums specific to content areas to ensure alignment to the new Illinois Learning Standards and Partnership for 21st Century Learning; ? Conduct review of subject areas and instructional materials and make recommendations for change through involvement of staff through district approved procedures (District Curriculum Timeline Review Process) for recommendation to the board. Upon approval, coordinate implementation of instructional materials in all schools. ? Co-facilitate and coordinate the district’s 21st Century Teaching and Learning committee; ? Attend all C&I Meetings, elementary and secondary principal/C&I meetings, and on occasion, DLT meetings; ? Attend and present academic reports at board meetings as needed; ? Assists in evaluating and leading the implementation of the district’s 21st Century Teaching and Learning matrix for grades K-12 to ensure alignment with the new Illinois Learning Standards including the Partnership for 21st Century Learning; ? Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels of curriculum; ? Assists in the evaluation, analysis and interpretation of data with Instructional Leaders, Principals and classroom teachers at the elementary, middle and high school levels to improve student performance; ? Assists in the faithful implementation of curriculum and assessments based on student achievement data through a variety of methods to include focused professional learning and collaboration with teachers and administrators; ? Compile budget and cost estimates based on documented program needs specific to district level curriculum and instruction; ? Assists with ensuring that all classrooms have the instructional materials needed to deliver high quality teaching and learning; ? Develops, communicates, and demonstrates research proven instructional strategies at professional staff development in-service and within the classrooms; ? Assist with the planning and coordination of professional learning for District School Improvement Days, Inservice Days, and Institute days ? Spend at least 25% of time in schools working collectively with administrators, teachers, and staff to ensure that district instructional initiatives are being implemented uniformly and with fidelity in all classrooms; ? Keep abreast of new materials, current research trends, techniques and ideas through reading professional materials and attendance at seminars, conferences, workshops within and outside of the district; ? Assists as needed with the review of the International Baccalaureate curriculum at the Jones Farrar Magnet School as needed; ? Assists in upholding and enforcing administrative regulations, and Board Policies; ? Assume any other duties as may from time to time be delegated by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. The Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction may make any adjustment in the scope of responsibilities as outlined above which will be in the best interest of the school district; DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL ? Must be able to travel between school buildings; ? Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds; ? Must be able to participate in out-of-district professional learning as needed; ? Must be able to attend and present information at board meetings as needed; TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: (200 days) Certified position with salary, differential and hours to be established by the Board of Education under the negotiated agreement between FSD#145 and the FEA. Once the curriculum is stabilized in this area, the position will be reviewed to see if the assignment is further needed as a district position. EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provision established by the Board of Education. The curriculum coordinator will be evaluated by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
