Position Summary
The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing developmentally appropriate, standards-based instruction while supporting the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of all students. This role focuses on building strong foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, communication, behavior, and classroom independence within a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment. The teacher plays a critical role in establishing positive relationships with students and families and supporting student success through consistent routines, high expectations, and trauma-informed practices.
Job Duties & Responsibilities

- Deliver developmentally appropriate, standards-aligned instruction in core subject areas.
- Build strong foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, communication, problem-solving, and classroom independence.
- Provide explicit instruction in foundational reading, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and early writing skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and varying academic levels.
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and interventions as directed by student plans and support staff.
- Use student data and assessments to inform instruction, identify learning gaps, and provide targeted interventions.
- Teach, model, and reinforce classroom routines, procedures, and positive behaviors.
- Use positive behavior supports, restorative practices, and trauma-informed strategies to support student success and self-regulation.
- Observe, assess, and evaluate student performance and communicate concerns and progress appropriately.
- Maintain frequent, proactive communication with families regarding academic progress, behavior, attendance, and student needs.
- Build and maintain a positive, inclusive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, intervention staff, and administration to support student growth and achievement.
- Support students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other school settings to ensure student safety.
- Participate in professional development, school improvement efforts, and district initiatives as applicable.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
