Duties

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

To provide excellence in education by establishing an environment that facilitates student learning, encourages the realization of personal potential, and contributes to students’ development as mature, able, and responsible adults.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Possesses knowledge of District policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibilities.
  2. Develops and implements activities that encourage students to be life-long learners as well as develops language proficiency.
  3. Provides leadership as a teacher, instructional coach, and specialist in compacting curriculum, developing tiered assignments, and facilitating the design of differentiated curriculum and instruction for gifted and high achieving students in the area of reading.
  4. Collaborates with classroom teachers, reading and math specialists, library/media specialists, and the technology coordinator to offer a continuum of services that support them in maximizing each child’s opportunities for challenge and growth.
  5. Fluent in Spanish language in order to instruct in all content areas.
  6. Co-teaches lessons rooted in principles of differentiation and development of language proficiency in both English and Spanish.
  7. Maintains and enhances professional knowledge in trends and technology in language proficiency by participating in various professional organizations and activities. 
  8. Works collaboratively with the Multilingual  team to provide professional development for staff.
  9. Uses data and research on best practices in multilingual instruction to guide curricular and instructional decisions.
  10. Assists with planning and coordinating the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee.
  11. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent to meet the needs and capabilities of individuals or student groups, recognizing the physical limitations of the space provided.
  12. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  13. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.
