JOB SUMMARY:
Provide instruction to students in applying concepts from Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through project-based learning.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Building Principal and Director of Teaching and Learning


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.   Instructs students in proper use, care, and safe handling of equipment.
2.   Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these objectives to
      the students.
3.   Provides individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with  
      varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.
4.   Teaches students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively.
5.   Assesses the accomplishments of students in a variety of ways on a regular basis and provides  
      progress reports as required.
6.   Maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
7.   Communicates with parents and administrators on students’ progress.
8.   Collaboratively develops and implements cross-curricular student projects with colleagues in other
      content areas.
9.   Keeps updated on current research in STEM/STEAM advances and provides information to
      administration for discussion on updating the STEM curriculum.
10. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff, and parents through oral and
      written communication.
11.  Maintains professional competence through in-service education.
12.  Supervises students in and out of classroom as assigned.
13.  Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
14.   Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
15.   Performs other related duties as assigned
 
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Ability to visually supervise students and assess situations for safety concerns.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions regarding the welfare of students.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties and tasks with a minimum of direction.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with all students, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to physically move about the buildings and grounds.
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Ability to handle student information with confidentiality.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

  • Constant hand-eye, min-eye coordination
  • Ability to lift 20lbs and move 50lbs
  • Frequent sitting, walking, talking, bending, lifting, and stooping required.
  • Vision abilities including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional travel to various school locations required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise, and hazards are relatively non-existent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Nine-month work year (185 days)
  • Twelve sick days
  • Four personal days
  • FLSA Exempt
  • Salary based on Collective Bargaining Agreement

 
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:
Performance of the position will be evaluated with provisions set by the Board of Education as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSES/ENDORSEMENTS:

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with
    • K-9 Endorsement
    • Science Endorsement
  • Strong Proficiency in Technology
