Duties
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
- Guide District PBIS teams, maintaining alignment of the philosophies of the program.
- Participate in behavior intervention planning and functional behavioral assessments.
- Completion of PBIS reporting tools including PBIS Tiered Fidelity Inventory, Self-Assessment Survey, Multi-Tiered Action Plan, Student Intervention Enrollment Data, and Student Intervention Success Data.
- Coordination of fall and spring stations, trimester celebrations, grade level refreshers, and student/staff incentives.
Child Welfare and Student Attendance
- Serve as student advocate and complete mandated paperwork in investigations conducted by the Department of Child and Family Services.
- Serve as the LEA during IEP meetings.
- Follow and seek resources as they relate to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act.
- Complete annual Homeless Report to the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Initiate truancy protocols in accordance with Illinois Compiled Statutes and School Board Policy.
- Represent the District in truancy meetings as set by the Livingston County Truancy Officer.
Student Discipline
- Ensure restorative justice practices and due process are followed in all disciplinary cases.
- Communicate disciplinary actions with necessary stakeholders.
Student Discipline (continued)
- Utilize established decision making rules to move students into Tier II Interventions.
- Complete annual Student Discipline, Student Expulsion, and Student Suspension Reports to the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Provide support to staff in classroom management techniques and practices.
School Safety
- Ensure proper measures and protocols are established to provide a safe learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Coordinate required safety drills as required by Illinois School Code.
- Conduct annual safety meeting as required by Illinois School Code.
- Maintain District Emergency Procedures Manuals and replenish necessary materials.
- Perform necessary maintenance on District AED devices.
- Determine appropriate need for CPR, First Aid, ALICE, and other trainings.
Transportation Services
- Coordination of student transportation needs including general routes, midday routes, special education routes, field trips and charters, and extra curricular routes.
- Actively communicate with Pontiac Elementary School to ensure proper licensing, insurance, pre- and post-route, mandated inspections, and maintenance is completed on all District operated vehicles.
- Consult with area District to maximize efficiencies in transportation efforts.
Community Outreach
- Utilize school and community groups and organizations to partner in educating the whole child.
- Seek available resources for student and families as needed.
- Coordinate events and activities that celebrate and foster the school - community relationship.
Saunemin Community Fitness Center
- Ensure safe and sterile environment for all community members.
- Maintain membership information and establish recruitment efforts.
- Oversee employee approvals, work requirements, scheduling, evaluations, and time sheets.
- Develop protocols for time management and facility maintenance during working shifts.
Evaluation of Certified Staff
- Completion of annual evaluations of certified staff based on evaluation cycles.
Additional Notes
Saunemin Community Consolidated School District 438 is a one-building district serving approximately 105 students in a rural setting. Saunemin is located about 15 miles east of Pontiac and about 15 miles south of Dwight. Both nearby communities offer convenient access to Interstate 55 as well as shopping and dining opportunities. Our district offers an on-campus Community Fitness Center that staff accesses for free. There is also the possibility of being the Athletic Director as well in the future.
