K-5 Elementary Principal (anticipated)

Duties

The Cissna Park C.U.S.D. 6 Board of Education is currently accepting applications for the position of Elementary Principal.  The person employed for the position will provide administrative and supervisory services for approximately 125 students and 15 staff members in grades K-5.

  • Demonstrate support for the mission, beliefs, and goals of Cissna Park CUSD 6.
  • Provide vision and leadership to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs.
  • Use student achievement data to guide instructional decisions and continuous school improvement.
  • Support teachers through observation, evaluation, coaching, and professional development.
  • Promote and sustain a safe and respectful school environment.
  • Implement student discipline procedures that are progressive, fair, and consistent.
  • Encourage collaboration, innovation, and shared leadership among staff.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality staff members.
  • Supervise and evaluate certified and classified personnel.
  • Cultivate a positive, collaborative culture that values teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee day-to-day building operations, including scheduling, facilities management, and student activities.
  • Work and communicate with other district administrators and district department heads to ensure district unity, consistency, and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, state and federal regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively to support school goals.
  • Lead crisis management, safety drills, and emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain open and transparent communication with families regarding student progress, school programs, and district initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and community organizations.
  • Represent the school positively within the Cissna Park School District community.
  • Encourage family engagement in school activities, events, and decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in education
  • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Educational Administration)
  • Administrative license required
  • Experience ensuring a standards-based and aligned curriculum that meets the needs of all students and student groups is implemented.
  • Experience ensuring the implementation of high-quality, effective classroom instructional strategies that improve the performance of all students and student groups.
  • Experience or knowledge regarding the elimination of achievement gaps.
  • Ability to coach and develop teachers by providing actionable feedback to improve the quality of instruction.
  • Ability to use student-level data to drive continuous improvement, ensuring every student has sufficient opportunity to meet and exceed standards.
  • Ability to maintain a supportive, secure, and respectful learning environment that ensures the social, emotional, and physical well-being of staff and students.
  • Knowledge of procedures, techniques, and strategies pertaining to the administration of school-level operations.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and coordinate the management functions and activities of school operation.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to promote a positive, caring environment.
  • Ability to effectively analyze problems, issues and concerns and formulate appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Organizational, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills are required to achieve the goals of the position.

Salary/Benefits

Salary and Benefits will be set by the Board of Education and will be based on experience and education level.
