Type of Employment: Full-Time - 180-Day Contract
Job Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have exceptional needs. Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
Salary and Benefits: $48,920 - $80,988 (BHASED CBA with Salary Range and Benefits); Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance. TRS position.
Overview:
The Black Hawk Area Special Education District is seeking a passionate Instructor for the Project SEARCH program to support students and staff within our BHASED programs and member districts. This position’s goals are to:
- To serve as a daily coordinating liaison between Project SEARCH, Host-Business (Unity Point-Trinity Rock Island campus), BHASED, Michelle’s Vocational Placement, and the Districts Served.
- To facilitate students’ transition from school to work through partnerships with school personnel, adult service providers, local Vocational Rehabilitation staff and students/customers and families.
- As a member of the interdisciplinary team, provide and stimulate cooperative planning and development of each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and the DRS Individual Plan for Employment (IPE).
- To identify student strengths, interests and abilities related to skill acquisition.
- To teach and coach interns, case-manage their internships, and monitor and report progress.
- To partner with host-business departments and develop and lead disability awareness within the host site.
- To guide each intern to readiness for employment under the Project SEARCH guidelines.
