Duties
The Special Education Teacher will provide instruction and support to students based on their IEPs and individual needs. This includes planning lessons, interventions, and accommodations that help students grow academically, socially, and behaviorally. The teacher will work closely with general education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure students are supported in all settings. Case management, progress monitoring, and maintaining accurate IEP documentation are key parts of the job. The teacher is expected to create a positive, structured environment, communicate regularly with parents and staff, participate in professional development, support school initiatives, and complete assigned supervisory duties. Most importantly, the teacher should build strong relationships with students and help them reach their potential.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a valid Illinois PEL with an LBS1 endorsement. We are looking for someone who understands special education law and best practices, can write and manage IEPs effectively, and can provide instruction and accommodations that meet a wide range of student needs. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, along with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. The ideal candidate is organized, student-centered, and committed to being an active, supportive part of our school community.
