Duties

The position provides assistance to the general education teachers in the daily instruction of bilingual students. The work involves providing literacy and math instruction and support to bilingual students along with translating directions and information to bilingual students when they are in their general education classes. We currently have two openings - one at Manteno Elementary School (Grades K-4) and one at Manteno Middle School (Grades 5-8).

• Provides literacy and math practice and support to bilingual students in collaboration with general education teachers
• Provides literacy and math practice via google classroom and google meets for remote learning groups
• Becomes knowledgeable of teaching methods and materials to support language development
• Prepares instructional materials, performs designated lessons with students, uses supplementary learning materials as needed
• Observes and reports student progress to ESL teacher
• Follows instructional schedule developed by ESL teacher
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
• Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrator

Qualifications

• Must possess a current valid Illinois Paraprofessional License, Professional Educator's License or Sub License
• Bilingual - Spanish speaking
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operating instructions, etc.
• Ability to speak effectively using proper grammar
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to problem-solve, maintain confidentiality, and work with a team
• Basic technology skills and knowledge of Google Suite preferred

Hourly Rate: $18.00 (approximately 7 hours/day)
