Duties

The 5th Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment for students. The teacher will plan and deliver instruction aligned to state standards in core subject areas such as English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, and support students’ academic and social-emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver standards-based lesson plans in all core subjects

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs

  • Use assessment data to guide instruction and measure student progress

  • Maintain clear expectations for behavior and classroom management

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress

  • Collaborate with grade-level and support staff

  • Integrate technology into instruction

  • Participate in professional development and school events

  • Create a respectful and inclusive classroom environment

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree

    • From an accredited college or university.

  2. Teacher Preparation Program

    • Complete a state-approved Educator Preparation Program with student teaching.

  3. Licensure Exams

    • Pass the ILTS Elementary Education (Grades 1–6) test.

  4. Apply for a Professional Educator License (PEL)

    • Through the ELIS system with Elementary (1–6) endorsement.

Salary/Benefits

Competitive for the area.  $2000 dollar sign on bonus. Includes full health benefits and TRS contributions.
