Duties
* Provide differentiated instruction aligned with the state standards across core subject areas.
* Create a structured, supportive classroom environment focused on academic and personal growth.
* Collaborate with support staff, families, and social work to support individualized student success plans.
* Implement trauma-informed practices while using positive interventions.
* Track student attendance, progress, and outcomes; maintain accurate and timely records.
* Model professional, respectful behavior and serve as a mentor for students navigating life's challenges.
Qualifications
* Valid Illinois PEL for the grade levels taught (6-12)
* Experienced and passionate about working with at-risk youth or students with social-emotional or behavioral needs.
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to de-escalate conflicts
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient personality in the face of student adversity.
* Able to foster trust and build meaningful relationships with students

Additional Notes
The Regional Safe School Program supports students who have been identified as at-risk of expulsion, or who have been suspended from their local schools. These students are in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate will bring instructional expertise and a strong commitment to helping students overcome social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
