Duties

  1. Work collaboratively with all special education and general education staff
  2. Work under the direction of the building principal
  3. Provide instruction as determined by the students’ IEPs
  4. Participate in the development of comprehensive Individual Education Plans for identified students including behavior intervention plans
  5. Provide consultation, technical assistance and training to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning or behavioral problems
  6. Provide information to parents relative to strategies that can be used at home to support the school’s efforts
  7. Take responsibility for implementation of IEPs for students on assigned caseload
  8. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  1. Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 elementary endorsement 
  2. Successful teaching or student teaching experience
  3. Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with general education teachers, students, parents and staff
  4. Strong knowledge base of secondary curriculum
  5. Strong organizational skills
  6. Strong problem-solving skills
  7. Strong knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring experience
  8. Ability to model teaching strategies to meet the needs of students’ various learning styles
  9. Ability to informally assess learning and/or behavioral needs of students & address those need using documented data

Additional Notes

SIGN ON BONUS:  For the 2025-2026 school year a sign on bonus will be provided to new hires.

The first installment ($2,000.00) shall be paid within thirty (30) days of the successful candidate’s start date.

The second installment ($2,000.00) shall be paid on the first paycheck in June 2026, following the successful candidate’s first year.

If the employee does not complete 4 years, they will be responsible for repayment of the prorated amount ($1,000.00 per year).

For the 2025-2026 school year, all teachers in the following positions will receive a stipend in the amount of $2,500.00
