Duties

Job Summary:

Lawrenceville High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective instruction in mathematics to students in grades 9-12, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting students’ academic growth. This position requires strong content knowledge, classroom management skills, and a commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned math lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance student understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback and intervention as needed.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and those needing enrichment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Support school policies, procedures, and student behavioral expectations.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Mathematics endorsement (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • Previous teaching experience at the junior high/middle school level is preferred but not required.
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
  • Ability to integrate technology into instruction effectively.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
