Duties
Plans and conducts school based social work evaluations using a variety of tools and methods for specific referral questions; including but not limited to formal and informal methods, Social Developmental Studies, Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA), Multi-Tier Systems of Support (MTSS), writing reports, developing recommendations, providing resources, and providing feedback to parents and consultation to school staff.
Participates as a member of student-centered teams such as intervention planning, Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 planning, evaluation of interventions, pre-referral processes, FBA, Manifestation Determinations, etc. Provides necessary documentation for each process.
Provides direct and consultative social work services to individual students and student groups
Consults with teachers and administrators regarding evidence based/scientifically validated interventions, intervention progress monitoring, special education eligibility, mental health disorders, program evaluation, and other social work services.
Coordinates PBIS and SEL Teams
Refers students and families to outside agencies as appropriate
Serves as liaison to community organizations
Provides crisis intervention and serves on student assistance/emergency response/threat assessment teams as requested.
Maintains up to date, best practice professional skills through reading current literature, attending required trainings and actively participating in professional development.
Completes all records, reports and assignments promptly, accurately, and efficiently.
Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance that adheres to organizational expectations and facilitates positive relationships with others.
Performs duties across the District and supports colleagues across buildings and grade levels.
Performs all duties in accordance with regulations, policies, locally adopted procedures, and ethical codes of conduct.
Participates on school and school district committees.
Provides training and resources on a wide variety of school social work topics including DCFS mandated reporter training, bullying prevention, peer counseling and anti-violence, Anne Marie’s Law and Erin’s Law, etc.
Performs other duties, as necessary, to provide school social work services as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications
Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) and ISBE Approved Professional Educator License

Additional Notes
The School Social Worker provides a full range of school social work services to students grades PK-6 (with some flexibility based on caseloads) at Durand CUSD #322. The purpose of this position is to collaboratively work with students, school staff, parents and the community to foster student growth and to enrich student learning experiences through a whole child lens.
